Software Description:

The HOSTS Manager is a program to maintain your HOSTS file. You will be able to download directly the HOSTS file maintained at Bluetack, append other HOSTS files to your existing one, replace your HOSTS file by a new one, create a back-up and restore it, add, edit, delete entries and much more… You can use your personal inclusions and exclusions lists. It will not import duplicate and invalid entries. You can also check if your HOSTS file contains invalid domains, thus invalid entries.

Downloading the Bluetack’s HOSTS file through the Hosts Manager is really easy. If the download URL changes, you will be asked if you want to check the availability of a new download link. If you get any error messages during the download, please take the time to write them down.

Once you’ve downloaded the Bluetack’s HOSTS file, you will have 4 different choices:

  • Simply open the download folder.
  • Append the downloaded file to your existing HOSTS file.
  • Replace your current HOSTS file with the new one. (Recommended)
  • Simply close the download window.

On 1024x768 resolutions, if your taskbar is not hidden, the main window will show a tiny scroll arrow at the bottom of the toolbar to show clipped buttons.

Take a few minutes to read the help file by pressing F1 or by clicking on the little arrow at the right side of the main window.

Note for Windows 95/98/ME users:
"unable to insert a line" error message.
This error is a limitation of the Windows (95/98/ME) operating system. A Listbox can only contain 32,767 lines, sometimes only 32,738 lines. Unfortunately I can't do anything about that. You can still use our HOSTS file but you won't be able to use the Hosts Manager to maintain it. If you use a smaller HOSTS file, like the MVPS Hostfile, you should be able to use the Hosts Manager.
