This FastTrack Guide has been put
together to help you get started on the
file sharing network. If you are
completely new to file sharing this
guide will surely help you. The
FastTrack network is probably the
best network to get started and used to
file sharing. FastTrack file sharing
programs are easy to use and you'll
quickly find out what file sharers are
all angry about. There are
various file sharing programs that can
connect to the FastTrack network, the
most famous one being Kazaa Media
Desktop of course. Most
programs that connect to the FastTrack
network look very similar so if you
understand how to use one, you'll
understand how to use the others.
This guide uses
the spyware-free, malware-free,
adware-free and totaly free Kazaa Lite Resurrection to introduce
you to FastTrack network.
• Searching
for files
Searching for
files is very easy. Just wait until the
program has connected to the network.
The program will connect to the network
automatically when you launch it so
there's nothing you need to do yet.
While it's connecting and while it's not
connected to the network the "Search"
and "Downloads/Uploads" tabs at the top
will be greyed out and you won't be able
to click them.
Once you are connected click on the
search tab and type in whatever you are
looking for under the "Search for:" and
click "Search Now" or press enter. The
program will search the FastTrack
network for any files with its name
containing the word(s) you entered. The
results will show up on the right.
Select the file you want to download and
press the "Download" button at the top
(you can just double click as well).
The FastTrack network is very large one and
no FastTrack program is capable of
searching the entire network. You will
always be searching through only a
fraction of the files on the FastTrack
network.

Downloading files
Once a
FastTrack file sharing program begins
downloading a file, it starts connecting
to the various sources who have the file
and downloads small parts of the file
from every source, until you have the
complete file. A source is a person like
you allowing other people to download a
file they have. You can have a look at
the sources of the file your connecting
to/downloading from by clicking on the
"+" sign next to the filename.
If you are downloading from that person,
that person is uploading to you. You can
upload files as well. That would require
you to share them.

• Sharing
files
When you
installed your FastTrack program you
chose a download location for your
files; your Shared Folder. Everything
that is in your Shared Folder is
automatically shared across the network.
Other people will be able to download
every file in you Shared Folder, so you
should choose your Shared Folder wisely.
You can use the File Manager to view
what files you are sharing. If you wish
to add or remove folders go to Options,
Find Media to Share.
